Grant Criteria

Grants are awarded based on availability of funds and meeting the criteria below:

  • Bedford County Public School Teachers, Counselors and Administrators may submit an application for funds to support educational enrichment programs and resources in the classrooms.

  • All requests must meet BCPS guidelines. Grants are not given for furniture, parties or items (such as lighting) funded in the school budget. We also strongly recommend that you check in advance with your Principal and Central Office to make sure that there are not existing funds available to support your efforts.

  • Applications are reviewed with the following criteria in mind: prospects for success; number of students/schools who will benefit; clear objectives, a timeline, and a way to evaluate success; ability to be replicated by other classes/schools; realistic cost; uniqueness/innovativeness with sound academic principles in a recognized field of study; benefit teacher quality; encouraged community involvement; and positive exposure for the Foundation.

  • The Foundation most often funds grants from several hundred to several thousand dollars (depending on the availability of funds). Exceptions have been made for Countywide initiatives or initiatives that benefit more than one school.

  • Photo Release: Your application grants permission to the Foundation to use your photograph in any fundraising or informational materials.

Summary of Program Outcomes Report


All grant recipients are required to submit a Summary of Program Outcomes Report Form upon completion of their project.
